arguably in the state of New Jersey. Under the guidance and leadership of Coach Clarence Turner,
the Program has won over 50 Conference Championships, 40 Section Titles and 7 State titles
It's winning tradition is largely responsible by Coach Turner and the staff at Camden High.
Coach Turner is the all-time winning African American and Public School Coach in the State of New Jersey. His fierce approach to the game of basketball comes largely from his childhood experience with segregation and the Civil Rights movement. Unfortunately, Camden was suspended several times by the NJSIAA from post season play, for allegedly fighting during games and the use of ineligible players. Despite their many set backs,
Camden High has produced some of the greatest athlete's in the State of New Jersey. Some of the players include;
Derek Ramsey who played for the Dallas Cowboys, Billy Thompson and Milt Wagner played for the NBA Championship
Lakers in 1981...and Dajaun Wagner who became the all-time High School scoring leader in the State.
After averaging 42 points per game as a senior. He also played in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
According to USAToday, Philadelphia Inquirer, Courier Post, and others; Camden is one of the most dangerous
and poorest cities in the United States. Second to New Orleans in 2009.
Despite the many criminal and violent activities that has plagued Camden, Coach Clarence Turner has managed
to inspire the adults and youth in this community to be proud members and students at Camden High.
Who later become College graduates, Professional athletes, Teachers, Agents, Politicians, and law enforcement.
However in 1986, Camden High overcame astronomical odds - through corruption low education, poverty, drug infested, single parent homes, homeless, crime, violence, welfare, and unemployment - to become the number one
High School basketball program in the United States of America.
